Tezpur University is established on 1994, The objects of this unitary type of Central
University as envisaged in the statutes, are that it shall :
(a) strive to offer employment oriented and interdisciplinary course, mostly at post graduate level, to meet the local and regional aspirations and the development of the state of Assam;
(b) offer courses and promote research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in the emerging areas in Science and Technology;
(c) promote national integration and study of the rich cultural heritage of the region and in particular, the diverse ethnic, linguistic and cultural heritage of the state;
