Scholastic Assessment Test ( SAT) is an important eligibility test for those seeking admission in Under Graduate Programmes in several countries including America and Canada.      

Significance:  Depending on the need and season few changes are being carried out in this exam. Across the globe, over 2000 educational institutions admit students based on the scores obtained in SAT.  Every year,  over 20 lakh students take up this eligibility admission test.


Who can apply: Students having completed class XII and those willing to take up higher education in overseas educational institutions can apply for this exam.    

Exam pattern: 
SAT is conducted totally for 1600 marks to test skills in reading , writing & language, Maths. According to the students' interest essay writing exam can be chosen.    

Duration of the Exam:
Along with essay writing the examination will be held for 3 hours and 50 minutes. Without the essay paper the exam duration is 3 hours.

Reading Section:
In this section 52 questions are asked to test the skill to complete sentences and comprehending. Questions will be asked from topics like Psychology, Sociology, Social Science and Economics. Duration of this section is 65 minutes.

Mathematics:   The SAT Math Test covers a range of math practices, with an emphasis on problem solving, modelling, using tools strategically, and using algebraic structure. This section consists of 58 questions to be answered in 80 minutes.

Writing & Language:    This section consists of writing long essays and questions with 44 questions to be answered in 35 minutes.


The SAT Writing and Language Test asks you to be an editor and improve passages that were written especially for the testand that include deliberate errors.           

Exam frequency:
This exam is conducted 7 times in a year.

Applying procedure:
Students are to apply online through the SAT examination official website. Exam centres are made available in several cities in India including Chennai
