The National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur previously called as Regional Engineering College, Jamshedpur, was established in 1960 as one of the eight REC (Regional Engineering College) founded by the Government of India. It was renamed as National Institute of Technology on 27th December 2002.

It is located on the outskirts of Jamshedpur, Jharkand State on a sprawling 320 acres of hilly, wooded land. It combines the natural beauty of countryside with the urban glamour of an industrial area. It offers 12 UG and PG courses in the department of Engineering, Science, Management and also provides Research programmes. Nearly 1350 students obtain education here.
