Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur
This Institute began functioning in a rented building in 1959 with 100 students and with a modest number of faculties. The Institute now has its own sprawling ground of 420 hectares bestowed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and in 1963 the Institute moved to its present location.
In addition to offering formal Undergraduate and Post-graduate Programs, the Institute is involved in the Research and Development programmes that are valuable to both the Industry and the Government. The Institute acknowledges freedom of thought, cultivates vision, encourages growth, inculcates human values and concern for the environment and the society. There are 2255 undergraduate and 1476 postgraduate students, 309 faculties and more than 900 supporting staff.
