INTRODUCTION:

NBRI is a premier plant based multidisciplinary, state-of-art national R&D Centre of CSIR undertaking research from classical taxonomy to cutting edge areas of modern biology-including both applied and basic research in the fields of biochemistry, bioinformatics, biotechnology, conservation biology, cytogenetics, environmental sciences, ethnopharmacology, floriculture, microbiology, molecular biology and genetic engineering, pharmacognosy, pharmacy, physiology, phytochemistry, plant biodiversity, plant breeding, taxonomy and tree biology, for the conservation and sustainable utilization of the non crop plant genetic resources of the country.

  • A process for the preparation of antifungal metabolite
  • A method for chemical synthesis of an artificial promotor of high level expression of transgenes in different organisms A process for the preparation of custom made herbal health protective nutraceuticals for females / expectant mothers
  • Method for regenerating viable and fertile citrus plants by tissue culture from explants
  • Biologically pure culture of bacteria which suppresses diseases caused by pathogens in chickpea crops and a culture of bacteria comprising a strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens
  • A composition useful for qualitative screening of phasphate solubilising microorganisms and a qualitative method for screening microorganisms A synergistic bioinoculant composition comprising bacterial strains of accession nos. NRRL B-30486, NRRL B-30487 AND NRRL B-30488 and a method of producing said composition thereof
  • Herbal health protective and promotive nutraceuticals for diabetics
  • Nontoxic dental care herbal formulation for preventing dental plaque and gingivitis

The areas where ongoing research is carried out are:

  • A process of co-cultivating a fungal culture filtrate with a medicinal plant for the enhancement of biomass, active ingredient concentration and antioxidant activity of the plan
  • Herbal black dye used in beautifying the hair and its applications
  • Method of modulating antioxidants in functional foods by plant growth promoting rhizobacteria and uses thereof
  • Recombinant chimeric G-protein of rabies virus produced in trangenic plants and a synthetic gene for development of vaccine
  • Recombinant chimeric G-protein of rabies virus produced in trangenic plants and a synthetic gene for development of vaccine
  • Recombinant chimeric G-protein of rabies virus produced in trangenic plants and a synthetic gene for development of vaccine
  • A synergistic bionoculant composition comprising high temperature tolerant trichoderma isolates of accession noss NRRL 30595, NRRL 30596, and NRRL 30597 and a method of producing said composition
  • Development of novel herbal combination used as a brain tonic and cognition based on traditional indigenous knowledge
