Apart from the mental fulfilment of protecting forests, it gives immense contentment as a custodian of Environment. This examination is conducted by UPSC every year. It consists of good career promotion. After the training, you will be posted in postions like Divisional Forest Officer, Assistant Chief Conservator of Forests. The personnels working under them are, Forest Guards, Block Officers, Range officers and Assistant Conservator of Forests.
The IFS examinations are usually held in June. The Advertisements regarding this will be released in December/ January. Persons between the age of 21and 30 years can apply. Anyone who has a B. Sc.degree in either Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, or Astronomy can apply. Those who have finished Agricultural Engineering can also apply.
The person has to appear for both the written Examinations and Interview. There are 2 compulsory and 2 optional papers. Compulsory papers are General Knowledge and English. Apart from the eleigible subjects mentioned, the optional papers are Forestry, Civil/ Mechanical/ Chemical Engineering. The person has to choose any two from the list.
