Marine biology is the scientific study of the plants, animals and other organisms that live in the ocean. Given that in biology many phyla, families and genera have some species that live in the sea and others that live on land, marine biology classifies species based on the environment rather than on taxonomy.
There are many practical reasons to study marine biology. Marine life represents a vast resource, providing food, medicine, and raw materials, in addition to helping to support recreation and tourism all over the world.
In aqua marine ecology you will study modern techniques in underwater diving, pollution monitoring, flow-through bioassay, marine microbiology, toxicant analysis, gene cloning, sequencing, database search, data mining and analysis using bioinformatics software, micro array and proteome analysis.. The students completing this course are expected to be placed well in research and higher learning in reputed Indian and foreign institutions involving Underwater Marine Exploration, Reef Conservation & Management, Marine Ecotoxicology and Pollution Research and Medical & Pharmacological Research.
Besides theory and practical classes in advanced level subjects, you will be taking up project work in the area of Coral Reef Ecology, Sub-Aqua Marine Ecology, Marine Genomics, Toxicogenomics, Marine Ecotoxicology, Marine Pollution and Marine Bioactive Natural Products during the second year of the course.
M.Sc aqua marine ecology and Toxic genomics is offered in madurai kamaraj university.
